Privacy Policy
Last updated: December 2025
Overview
Stao is designed with privacy as a core principle. We believe your health data should stay on your device, and we've built our app to reflect that belief.
Data Collection
We do not collect any personal data. Your health and timer data stays entirely on your device.
The app stores the following data locally on your device:
- Your timer settings (sitting and standing durations)
- Session history (timestamps of your sitting and standing periods)
- App preferences (theme, notification settings)
This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party.
No Accounts Required
Stao does not require you to create an account. There is no registration, no email collection, and no login. Just download and start using the app.
Analytics & Crash Reporting
To improve the app and fix issues, we use Firebase to collect:
- Crash reports: Technical information about app crashes to help us identify and fix bugs
- Basic usage analytics: Anonymous data about app usage patterns (e.g., which features are used, app opens)
This data is anonymous and does not include your personal information, timer settings, or session history. We use this information solely to improve app stability and user experience.
Firebase is provided by Google. You can review Firebase's privacy policy for more information about how they handle data.
Data Deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over it. To delete all Stao data, simply uninstall the app. On desktop platforms, you can also clear the app data through the settings menu.
Open Source
Stao is open source software. You can review our code on GitHub to verify our privacy practices and see exactly what data is collected.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change this privacy policy, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date. However, given our commitment to privacy, any changes would only strengthen these protections, not weaken them.
